(Advertisement) Insect Control Products Powered By DuPont™ Rynaxypyr® Receive Federal Registration For Product Label Expansions
Insect control products powered by DuPont™ Rynaxypyr® have received federal registration for use on more than 200 additional crops. Expansions include 57 crops added to the DuPont™ Altacor® insect control label and 158 crops added to the DuPont™ Coragen® insect control label
Crops added to the Altacor® label include the citrus and caneberry crop groups and other specialty crops. The Coragen® label crop additions include sweet, field and seed corn, alfalfa, tobacco and many other specialty crops such as snap bean and strawberry.
Altacor® and Coragen® offer a breakthrough mode of action that provides long-lasting, broad-spectrum control of key pests at low use rates. The label expansion for Altacor® will give growers highly effective control of leafrollers and raspberry crown borer in caneberries and small fruit vine climbing fruits, and citrus leafminer and peelminer in citrus crops along with a broad spectrum of Lepidoptera control needs across crops. Coragen® will give growers highly effective control of Lepidoptra across crops including European corn borer and corn earworm in corn crops, tobacco budworm and hornworm in tobacco as well as alfalfa looper and beet armyworm in alfalfa.
A large number of these crops were added as a result of the joint efforts of DuPont Crop Protection, the IR-4 Project and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The IR-4 Project is a cooperative program with the principle goal of developing data to support and expedite regulatory clearances of newer, reduced risk pest control products for specialty crop growers. The IR-4 Project provides the field trial and data necessary for EPA clearance and new uses for pesticides. “We are excited to be a part of a collaborative process with IR-4 and EPA to broaden the availability of Rynaxypyr® powered products to our customers,” said Lars Swanson, Rynaxypyr® portfolio manager – DuPont Crop Protection. “This expansion will help more growers and crop consultants increase the quality and yield of their crop while protecting it from damaging pests.”
Altacor® and Coragen®, originally registered for use in various fruit and vegetable crops in May 2008, have delivered excellent insect control and ease of use for growers. Altacor® also received registration for use in tree nuts in August 2009.
